Volunteer Opportunities
Consider becoming a volunteer! Join a great group of urban archeologists who enjoy uncovering treasures. We particularly need some savvy shoppers who have an eye for brand names and current styles to help us sort and price clothing. You will be helping a very worthwhile non profit organization and enjoying the camaraderie of a fun loving group.
How to become a NOVA Thrift Shop volunteer
We provide a short one hour orientation for new volunteers twice a month; the first Sunday at 10:30 and the third Thursday at 9:00 or by special arrangement. Call the shop at 215-249-8000 to register.
A few words about donations
Your donations are critical to the success of NOVA Thrift. As you are preparing your donations, please keep the following in mind:
- All donations must be clean, odor free and in good repair
- We are seeking merchandise we can sell for at least $2.00 Resale prices are usually a quarter of retail so we welcome anything that originally sold for at least $8.
- We cannot accept any appliances larger than a toaster or coffee maker. No computers, no T.V.s, no microwaves.
- We cannot accept any large/heavy furniture or any upholstered furniture. It is always a good idea to call ahead to be sure we have sufficient room for furniture before driving over.
- Due to liability concerns, we do not accept any children’s toys or furniture This includes, strollers, highchairs, cribs, changing tables.
- If you have any clothing that is NOT clean and in good repair, we can sell it to our recycler. Just pack it up separately and clearly mark it “FOR THE RECYCLER”.
- We cannot accept any Garage Sale leftovers.
A few words about consignments
- We do not accept clothing for consignment. We accept “collectibles” we think we can sell for at least $10. Resale prices are usually a quarter of retail so we can consign things that retailed for at least $40.
- It is necessary to make an appointment for consignments.
- Consignors receive 50% of the selling price
- All items are on the floor for 6 weeks.
- Consignors may pick up their unsold items at the end of the consignment period or they become a donation to NOVA. NOVA helps crime victims in Bucks County
- Consignor is responsible to collect and remove unsold/non-donated items at the end of the consignment period. Items need to be picked-up within 5 days of the pick-up date. You will not receive a reminder.
- We promise to be careful with your items; however, we cannot be responsible for loss due to fire, water, theft or damage by handling.
Counseling
NOVA provides absolutely free one-on-one short-term counseling to help victims, their families and significant others to identify and work through their thoughts and feelings surrounding their victimization.

Advocacy
NOVA is an advocate for victims’ rights. We provide support and accompaniment to all criminal justice proceedings. We speak in support of victims and victims’ right on the local, state and national levels.

We offer personal safety educational programs to children and youth, adults, older adults and individuals with disabilities in schools, community centers, and professional settings in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
