Programs for Teachers

NOVA’s programs help school staff to work along with parents, caregivers and students in reducing and preventing the incidence of crime and victimization and keeping classrooms safe. The following is a list and description of the programs available for professionals working in school settings.

Keeping Kids Safe – Talking About Touching

This training is geared for early childhood professionals and staff in any school or recreational setting. The program explores common myths of child sexual abuse with a discussion of the signs and symptoms regarding child sexual assault. Skills on responding to a report of child abuse will be developed and reporting requirements are outlined.

Mandated Reporting of Child Abuse Training (1.5 hours or 3.0 hours)

This training identifies the role and responsibility bystanders and adults play in the prevention, protection and intervention of child abuse. This training has been approved by the Department of Human Services in accordance with Act 31 of 2014 and by the Pennsylvania Department of Education in accordance with Act 126 of the Pennsylvania Public School Code.

The Bully-Free Classroom

Identification and prevention of bullying is key to creating a compassionate school environment. This program offers prevention strategies and tools for developing a “Bully-Free” classroom free from bullying behaviors.

Cyberbullying

NOVA’s Cyberbullying program is designed to assist school personnel with effective strategies and responses to handle cyberbullying. This program provides insights on cyberbullying and social media platforms and how to support students.

Your Students’ Digital Footprints

This training discusses privacy and promotes an understanding of how digital content is potentially viewed and stored in digital space. Online safety and respectful decision making will be addressed.
